Today's football games
No. 11 Fayetteville Pine Forest (5-6) at No. 6 Hillside (9-1-1) The lowdown: Hillside should have no problems with this Fayetteville team – as long as they don’t overlook Pine Forest because of a possible rematch with rival Southern next week. Even though Hillside had the best overall record of the three teams that tied for first in the PAC-6, it got the No. 3 seed out of the conference thanks to a random drawing. Desmond Scott will be the key for the Hornets as he recorded his fifth straight 100-yard rushing game last week in a 28-14 win over Person.

Southern takes on Athens Drive
Southern coach Adrian Jones doesn't really care too much for the way the PAC-6 determined state playoff seeding between his team, Chapel Hill and Hillside. All three teams finished with identical conference records and a random drawing was held to see who would get the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 seeds out of the conference.

Spartans' scheduling could give them edge
Tough non-conference scheduling is something second-year Southern boys' basketball coach Art Richmond always has believed in.
He said it gets his teams ready for the conference schedule, and it's part of the reason why the Spartans went 12-2 in the PAC-6, 19-9 overall in the 2007-08 season to win the conference title.

Today's games
East Chapel Hill (0-10, 0-6) at Northern (4-6, 3-3) The lowdown: Northern enters tonight’s game looking to give Coach Anthony Sullivan a winning PAC-6 record in his first season as head coach. The Knights, who fell at Hillside last week, shouldn’t have too much trouble against winless ECH on Northern’s Senior Night. Quarterback Andrew Peacock will lead the way offensively for the Knights as he’s averaging 182 passing yards per game. The Wildcats, who were shut out by Southern last week, have a tough task ahead of them if they hope to end the season with a win.
