NCCU tuition may increase 3.1%
Durham -- N.C. Central University students could see tuition and fee increases in fiscal year 2009-10. On Tuesday, the university's board of trustees' finance committee recommended a 3.1 percent increase in undergraduate tuition and a 6 percent increase in student fees.

Historic buildings get new look thanks to residents' investments
DURHAM -- Light streams through two giant windows into a loft apartment across from the SunTrust building in downtown. Inside, a safe dating from 1880 sits there, too heavy to move during a recent renovation, and owner Scott Donner says playfully: "It could be a wet bar maybe? That would be really great to have."

Lewis found guilty of kidnapping, robbery
HILLSBOROUGH -- After staying late to complete their work, jurors in the Michael Troy Lewis trial found him guilty of two counts of first-degree kidnapping, one count of common law robbery, felony conspiracy and attempted felony larceny for an incident involving three UNC Chapel Hill football players in December.
