OXFORD -- Sept. 16 is the opening date of the Wal-Mart Supercenter off U.S. 15 near Interstate 85.
That is according to Amy Wyatt-Moore, a spokeswoman for the Arkansas-based mega-retailer. |

OXFORD -- The City Commission at its 7 p.m. Tuesday meeting will decide whether to set a pair of public hearings on Sept. 8, with one to be for a proposed demolition by neglect ordinance and the other to be for a proposed criminal nuisance abatement ordinance. |

OXFORD -- Steve Powell is bowing out of a campaign for a second term on the Oxford City Commission, saying that he, his wife, Yolanda, and the Rev. "Coach" Rick Alexander have formed a six-county nonprofit organization called Youth and Parent Empowerment. |
