Jessie Delora Hodges and Kenneth Floyd Brown III were married at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 30, 2008 at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, Boone. The Rev. Don Chasteen and the Rev. Bud Russell officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Tim and Delora Hodges of Vilas. The bridegroom is the son of Ken Jr. and Rhonda Brown of Bahama.
The maid of honor was Jennifer Hodges. Other bridal attendants were Sarah Burke, Amanda Isaacs, Tracey Amerson, Helen Archer, Jessica Scott.
Best man was Ken Brown Jr. Ushers were Daniel Brown, Lucas Isaacs, Isaac Hodges, Preston Spencer, Chad Ferrell, Tyler Boone, Rance Shuler, Davis Scott.
Flower girls were Caroline Hodges and Lucy Elaine Hodges. Ring bearer was Jonathan Hodges.
A reception was held at Mount Vernon Baptist Church.
The bride graduated from Appalachian State University. She is employed by Cheap Joe's Art Stuff as an inventory control clerk.
The bridegroom graduated from Appalachian State University. He is employed by Samaritan's Purse as a mail and data processor.
The couple reside in Vilas.

Flora Faison, of Durham, and Melvin Branham, of Columbus, Ohio, announce the engagement of their daughter, Melanie Dione Branham to Wilbert DeQuan Russell.
The bride-elect graduated from Northern High School, Wake Forest University and Medical College of Virginia. She is employed by Carolinas Medical Center as a Physical Therapist.
The prospective bridegroom is the son of Wilbert and Mary Russell, of Birmingham, Ala. He graduated from Minor High School and Auburn University. He is employed by Rodgers Builders as a Project Engineer.
They plan an April 2009 wedding at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Charlotte.

William M. "Bill" and Mary Frances Harris Goodwyn, of Durham, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary November 5, 2008. They were married November 5, 1948, at the Grace Baptist Church by the late Rev. Henry B. Anderson.
Mary Frances retired from CCB and Bill retired from IBM.
They have two daughters, Sarah G. Harmon and husband, Jerry of Matthews and Beth G. Chestnut and husband, David of Asheville. They have three dear grandchildren, Marcus Goodwyn Harmon and Benjamin Avery Harmon of Matthews and Zoe Elizabeth Chestnut of Asheville.

Mr. and Mrs. Lynwood Holloway celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with family and friends at Five Forks Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Cedar Grove.
Hosts were their children, Linda and husband Skip Norwood of Creedmoor, Janet and husband Frank Upchurch of Cary, Lynn and wife Teresa Holloway of Cedar Grove.
The two were married September 17, 1948 by the Rev. C.J. Honeycutt in his home in Durham.
