NCCU tuition may increase 3.1%
Durham -- N.C. Central University students could see tuition and fee increases in fiscal year 2009-10.
On Tuesday, the university's board of trustees' finance committee recommended a 3.1 percent increase in undergraduate tuition and a 6 percent increase in student fees.

Historic buildings get new look thanks to residents' investments
DURHAM -- Light streams through two giant windows into a loft apartment across from the SunTrust building in downtown.
Inside, a safe dating from 1880 sits there, too heavy to move during a recent renovation, and owner Scott Donner says playfully: "It could be a wet bar maybe? That would be really great to have."

Durham County library and government leaders gathered on a cold, blustery day in a field by N.C. 54 and Alston Avenue to break ground for a new library. When it is finished in mid-2010, South Regional Library will serve as a common gathering place for the Lowe's Grove and Parkwood neighborhoods -- two of Southern Durham's most established communities in one of the county's fastest developing areas. |
